Forbidden Siren: The Movie

Forbidden Siren - 2006 Japanese Horror Movie

FORBIDDEN SIREN: THE MOVIE

Release date: 11.02.2006
Director: Yukihiko Tsutsumi
Scenario: Naoya Takayama
Composer: Kuniaki Haishima

In 2006, a Siren movie premiered in Japan. It is partly based on the scenario of Forbidden Siren 2, and the story also takes place on Yamijima Island. However, the film does not repeat the events of the game. Instead, it tells a new story with different characters.

Story

The film's main character is a young woman named Yuki Amamoto, who arrives with her father and younger brother on the small Japanese island of Yamijima.

But soon she learns that the island has a dark and terrifying past: in 1976, in just one night, the inhabitants of Yamijima mysteriously disappeared, and the sole survivor committed suicide.

What was the reason for these events?

And what is the meaning of the island residents' strange rule that prohibits leaving the house if the sound of the Siren is heard?

English Translation

The movie was officially released only in Japan. But there are subtitles with English translation (in the ".srt" format).

Also, I made a Russian translation for the movie in 2007.

You can download the English and Russian subtitles here:

Yui Ichikawa plays the main character Yuki. Fans of Japanese horror movies probably know this actress for her role in the famous film "Ju-On: The Grudge".

Jun Nishiyama plays Hideo Amamoto (Yuki's younger brother).

Leo Morimoto plays Shin Amamoto (the main heroine's father).

Naoki Tanaka plays Yutaka Minamida (a doctor on Yamijima Island).

Hiroshi Abe plays an island resident named Tsuchida Kei.

Naomi Nishida plays a neighbor woman who lives next to the Amamoto family.

Suzuki Matsuo plays a strange man named Azuma.

Kyuusaku Shimada plays Officer Yamanaka.

Mai Takahashi plays the "Woman in Red". By the way, this actress also played Kanae and Yuri in Forbidden Siren 2.

Original Soundtrack

Forbidden Siren Movie - music soundtrack CD

A soundtrack CD was also released in Japan.

It contains 22 tracks. Most of the tracks were written by Kuniaki Haishima (the same composer who worked on Forbidden Siren 2). And techno musician Takkyu Ishino contributed the final track for the end credits.

Forbidden Siren: The Novel

Forbidden Siren Movie - Japanese novel book

Release date: February 2006
Author: Yoshihiko Shindo

In addition to the movie itself, a novelization book based on it was also released in Japan.
Rumor has it that the novel has a completely different ending.

In 2013, there was an attempt to translate the novel into English. But unfortunately, the translation project was abandoned halfway through. So we'll probably never see the new ending.

You can read the translated chapters of the book here:
